Welcome to Issue #1
Hi, it’s Ruth Matthews from Medium.com! I’m so happy to have you here for the very first issue of Individual, Inspired.
Living creatively can be a challenge.
I always loved to write, but for years I thought of myself as someone who wasn’t naturally creative.
Instead I focussed on technical subjects, but once I gained clarity this wasn’t my true calling, I was inspired to pursue my passion anyway.
A lot of this came from self-limiting beliefs. You may have some holding you back, just like I did.
A lot of time these beliefs come from our parents. As adults, it’s important to make peace with our parents’ attitudes and think more for ourselves. You can read more about this idea here.
Besides this, another challenge in awakening our creativity comes from the need to have a full-time job and source of income. For me, my 9-5 was the reason I realised I needed to pursue a creative career. It all started with realising I wasn’t satisfied with my job.
If you think you might be feeling the same way, you can read about the secret signs you’re miserable at work and what you can do about them here.
Lastly, I know that life is difficult right now. Many of us are seeing new lockdowns, and spending more time at home.
Some of the things I’ve been enjoying whilst there’s not been much to do is learning French, and reading Hemmingway.
I’ve also put together a list of top tips to awaken your creativity drawing inspiration from Hemmingway over on Medium.
I’ve also written an article jam-packed with helpful knowledge on improving your curation rate on Medium.com. This is everything I learned over the past few months, and you can check it out here.
Thanks so much for reading. I’d love to hear what’s been getting you through these cold Winter months, and what your creative projects are for 2021.
Hope to see you in next week’s issue!
Lots of love,
Ruth
