Creating your own education, being single, and planning for your future in an uncertain world.
Welcome to issue #4.
Hi, it’s Ruth Matthews from Medium. Welcome to the 4th issue of Individual, inspired, a newsletter all about creative living and self-love.
I’ve been thinking a lot about the future lately. There are so many things I want to do and achieve.
Planning for the future has been tricky since last year. There’s a lot of uncertainty due to global events, but there are some ways right now that you can regain a feeling of control. Your future isn’t canceled: you still have a license to dream and go after what you want. More about this idea here.
In other news, I’ve been learning a lot about the online e-learning market recently. I think it’s fascinating and very exciting that we live in a time when you can access so much information online for very little cost.
I truly believe that the purpose of my life is to have as many experiences as possible. I want to try everything at least once. If you identify as a creative, there’s probably nothing better you can do for yourself and your art. Read more about this idea here, in The Post Grad Survival Guide.
Anyone who knows me well knows that I’ve been single (by choice) for some while now. I’m still figuring out where to go on the whole relationship front. In the meantime, I’ve had a lot of empowering solo-experiences and learned how to truly be content with living the single lifestyle.
You can find out how to empower yourself without a partner here.
Lastly, I did some writing on Greenwashing this week. My academic background is in sustainability and climate change, so this topic is extremely close to my heart.
Greenwashing is an unethical corporate marketing technique used to convince consumers that brands operate in the interests of the environment. In reality, usually, all they care about is targeting conscious consumers like yourself to turn a profit.
You can find out more about Greenwashing and how to avoid being a victim of it over at Better Marketing, here.
That’s all for this week! I have even more great content coming next week, so stay tuned.
As always thanks for being a reader, I really appreciate it. You can reply to this issue at any time (I answer all my emails), or DM me on twitter @ruthzmatthews.
See you in the next issue!
